A Heart Full of Gratitude: My Husband, Our Babies, and This Busy Homestead Life
There are days when I look around our homestead—babies giggling, jars of tomatoes cooling on the counter, and the smell of supper simmering—and I just whisper, thank You, Lord.
Because truly, I don’t know what I would do without my husband.
He’s the sweetest man in the world. Sure, he can be tough sometimes, but only when it comes to protecting the people he loves. That’s one of the things I admire most about him—his heart is strong, his hands are steady, and his love is constant.
He has supported me in one of my biggest dreams: being a mother again. I have four grown boys, and I love them beyond words. But deep down, I’ve always known—I was made to be a mother. And now, through fostering, that part of me gets to shine again.
Right now, we have two small babies in our care and another little one we love dearly. Our home is full of laughter, bottles, diapers, and bedtime snuggles. It’s also full of grace, patience, and teamwork. My husband works hard at his 9-to-5 operating job, then comes home and steps right into his role as my support worker, my partner, and my rock.
Together, we’ve built something beautiful—a home where these babies are safe, loved, and surrounded by care. And somehow, between all that, I still managed to can six cases of tomatoes in the past two weeks! (If you know, you know—that’s no small feat!)
The other night, after a long day, I sat down in my rocking chair with one of the babies in my arms. The house was finally quiet—the hum of the fridge, the faint creak of the rocker, and the sound of soft baby breaths against my chest. My husband and I was cleaning up, and as he came over to sit beside me, he smiled and said,
“It’s amazing, babe. We’re here raising babies, running a homestead, and still making money online from our digital marketing.”
That moment really hit me. There I was, rocking a little one I love so much, feeling so thankful for this life we’ve built. We don’t have to choose between living the life we love and earning an income anymore. We get to do both—right from our own home, right here on the homestead.
Some days, it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do all the things I love: caring for the babies, tending to the homestead, working on my digital business, and making sure there’s always something good simmering on the stove. But every bit of it is worth it.
Because at the end of the day, love is what fuels it all—love for my husband, for these little ones, and for the life we’re building together here on our homestead.
