🌿 About Rachel
Hi, I’m Rachel.
I’m a southern girl at heart, originally from a small town just outside Atlanta, Georgia. Nearly three decades ago, life brought me to rural northern Manitoba, where my husband David and I have built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
I’m a proud mama to four grown sons, grandma to three precious grandbabies, and our home is often filled with little ones in our care. Life here is full — sometimes loud, often messy — but deeply meaningful.
For the past nine years, we’ve lived completely off-grid. Our home runs on solar panels, wind power, and a backup generator. We grow food, preserve what we harvest, cook from scratch, and build much of what we need with our own hands.
We’re currently building a new homestead designed intentionally around sustainability, preparedness, and living simply. It’s not picture-perfect — it’s practical, purposeful, and built for real life.
Living With Chronic Pain — And Building Anyway
After a serious vehicle accident, my body changed in ways I didn’t fully understand at first. For years, I lived with daily pain that tests couldn’t explain. What I now recognize aligns with fibromyalgia — chronic pain and fatigue that don’t always show on the outside.
It has changed how I pace my days.
How I build.
How I work.
But it hasn’t stopped me.
Building Income From Home
Between off-grid living, family life, and navigating chronic pain, I needed flexibility. So I built it.
Through digital marketing and multiple streams of online income, I created a way to support our family financially while staying present at home. On strong days, I move fast. On hard days, I work from a chair. But I keep building.
For me, income isn’t about chasing more.
It’s about security.
It’s about freedom.
It’s about protecting time and building something sustainable.
And now I share what I’ve learned with other rural women who want to do the same.
